Coaches Hall of Fame: Bill Kant

Hall of Fame – 1989

Starting his career in Missouri Valley, Ia. and with a taste of college wrestling as an assistant at UNL Coach Kant went west searching for gold. He stopped at Chadron and has been the coach there for some 20 years. During that time he has compiled a coaching record of 108-61-2 with 18 of those years being winning seasons. His teams have finished in the top 10 at state for 14 of of those 20 years. Beginning the climb to the top his team captured third place in 1975. Settling in at second in 1976 and 1978—his four state champions in ’78 were quite a bonus! Determined as he is, his team took top honors in 1983. Gathering 17 high school titles this coach has also been involved in Chadron’s Junior Wrestling Program which has produced several Junior National Champions and over 2,000 future wrestlers. Kant is also a member of Phi Delta Kappa.
