Beginning his coaching career in Wymore Southern in ’76 as an assistant, Brent has been in the business for a total of 27 years. With his longest “tour” at Tekamah-Herman (20 yrs.) he has also spent time in Grettinger Community Schools in Iowa and Auburn High School as head coach. As the assistant coach under Guy Mytty (Hall ’88) for 10 yrs., Brent was instrumental in bringing many team and individual championships toTekamah-Herman. Asked to take the reins after Guy’s death in 1993, Brent has not let up. A mark of an excellent coach! He has led his teams to 17 team titles. They have placed in the Top Ten Teams at state 7x in the last 10 yrs., taking the State Crown in ’96 & ’97. He has had 8 tournament champs, 2 district champs, and 2 state champs. His duel record stands at 80-18-1. He has been chosen NSWCA Assistant Coach ’92, NSWCA Coach of the Year ’96, NCA Coach of the Year ’00, and NCA Milestone Award Level IV. He remembers his biggest thrill as taking the l989 State Champ Title with 5 finalists and 3 champs and setting the all class highest point total with 12 weight classes of 192.5 points.He is being introduced by Tekamah-Herman’s athletic director, Jim Andrew.
