Kurt coached 6 yrs. at Omaha Holy Name before coming to Grand Island Senior High where he has been 23 years until his retirement. During this time he has accumulated 4 State Champs, 65 State-placers, 174 State Qualifiers, taken 28 Tournament Championships, and was runner-up in 20 tournaments.His dual record is 151-114. His contributions to wrestling have been: hosting the Frohling Brothers Wrestling Camp at Hastings Community College for 10 yrs, 2x NSWCA President, 4x Class A NSWCA Board Rep, 4x District 4 Wrestling Rep for NCA, coached the NSWCA KS-NE Dual,coached the NE Jr. National Team in ’84 & ’85. In addition he has the level III Career Milestone from the NCA for wrestling and the Level II Career Milestone in football. High on his list of thrills was starting the program at Omaha Holy Name, getting it to the Top Ten and also takingthe State Runner-up Title in ’83 for Grand Island Sr. High. In addition, the fact that all 13 wts qualified for State in ’90 and he feels it has been a great opportunity to coach against some of the great coaches in NE history.
