Coaches Hall of Fame: Norm Sorensen

Mr. Sorensen did his prep campaigning for Omaha South during the early ’30s. He possesses three state titles for the years 1931-1933. He was the assistant wrestling coach at Omaha Central until taking over the reigns as head coach in 1946. During his 16 year stint as head coach his teams earned no fewer than six state championships. He retired as head coach in 1962.

Norm was also active as an official and wore the whistle for some 30 years before retiring in 1968. “The dedication, interest, and effort by Norm has brought wrestling to the growth and status it now holds in the state of Nebraska.”
