Omaha Westside

Dave got his start in wrestling in the state of New ¥ork where he placed 3rd in the New York State Wrestling Tournament his freshman year. Then, good news to Nebraska, he retrurned to finish high school at Omaha Westside, compiling an impressive record of 86 wins and 4 losses. His sophomore year was a repeat of his frosh year when he took third at state and then in ’75 and ’76 he was a State Champion. No stranger to titles of achievement he was a 3 time Metro Champ, a three time State AAU champ, and was chosen as a member of the Polish Cultural Exchange Team in ’74. He has won 18 high school tournaments and 32 Freestyle tournaments taking first in the National Greco Open in Iowa City in 1974. Dave took his freshman of college at Arizona University with 19 wins and 2 losses. Once again, returning to hes roots, he was at UNO for three years and established a 59-21 record. He took the Scholastic Wrestling News All American title in ’76 and won the Olympic Trials Regional in 1980. However, the try out camp was cancelled due to the USA’s boycott of the Olympic Games. Dave continues to be involved in wrestling through officiating – He has been choled Metro Official of trhe year in ’84,’88, and ’93. He was NSWCA Official of the Year in ’92 and is still thrilled with memories as he watches the “Parade Of Champions” from the referee’s circle at State.
