Sargent High School and Chadron State

Attending Sargent High School from ‘86-’89 Donny collected the following records and places at state: 1986 26-4 with 2nd at State, 1987 28-2 with 2nd at State, 1988 29-2 with 1st at State, and 1989 30-0 with 1st at State. His career record in high school stands at 113-8 including 33 tournament titles which at that time was a Class D record. He was a 4x District Champ wrestling from 112 to 140. He continued his wrestling at Chadron State where he was varsity his freshman and sophomore year. He qualified for NAIA nationals his sophomore year. He then had a tough decision to make: continue wrestling or pursue his degree. He chose, with a heavy heart, to pursue his career. Former teammate, Craig Mauler, comments he (Craig) was taking “lumps everywhere and lost some of my love for this great sport and contemplated not going out my sohpomore year. Donny took me aside and set me straight with encouragement and support. I would not be in my current position as a head coach with a very successful Class C co-op if wasn’t for him.” Donny also contributes to Youth Wrestling as a coach and officiates . In addition he took All Conference in football, was Loup Valley Conference Athlete jof the Year in 1989, class Salutatorian in ‘89 and Academic All State. His biggest thrill was winning his two state titles and his wife of 14 years as well as his two children . He is introduced by his father Don Siefried of Sargent.
