Paul was a 4-yr. letterman at Wilber-Clatonia High School compiling a record of 100-11. He was a Varsity Team member at Drake University in 1985-1986 and then transfered to UNL for the next 3 years. He competed in freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling in AAU and USA events and can proudly claim the title of 1992 Northern Plains Regional Freestyle Champion. After college Paul entered the coaching field where he had 4 consecutive Midwest Classic Conference Team championships. Coaching at Heritage Christian School he collected a record of 80-60-2 in 10 years of coaching including a 31-13 record in conference dual meets. He has coached 31 individual conference champs and 15 state medalists that include 3 State Champs. He completed USA Wrestling Silver Level Coaches college in 2006 and in 2005 coached the first private school wrestler to win a WIAA Individual State Champ title and claimed the second in 2006. He was assistant coach at Northwestern College (1992 NCCAA National Champs) and at Hopkins High School Minnesota in 1993. He is a member of USA Wrestling, National High School Coaches Assoc., Wisconsin Wrestling Coaches Assoc., and Wisconsin Wrestling Federation. He also accompanies team members to summer camps, clinics, and competitions. He has attended the NCAA Championships and World Championships and volunteers to officiate and score at Milwaukee summer wrestlng tournaments. He considers his biggest thrill as seeing his former wrestlers continue in the sport, both in competing and coaching. He is introduced by his friend James Bates of Wilber.
