Competitors Hall of Fame: Shane Strobel

Hall of Fame – 2001

It’s the “world of wrestling” at the Strobel household. Older brothers that wrestled and being on the mat , himself, since kindergarten has more than dominated Shane’s life. He wrestled all four years at Clarks High School (1983-1987) where he still holds the record in first pins, team points, and career wins. He qualified for State all four years taking the coveted State Champ crown as a freshman at 119 lbs. an honor not too many high school freshman can claim. Coming back his sophomore year he picked up the silver medal but dominated his junior and senior career by taking the State Title both years at 145 and 155 lbs. becoming a member of the 3x State Champ group of only 71 athletes since 1928. Going to UNK he was redshirted his first year , then wrestled at 158 with a .500 record that first year. Shane has an over-all high school record of 129-9 and he also holds the State Win Record from 1987-1990. Branching out with his wrestling interest, Shane was assistant coach at Clarks from 1988-1990. He officiated at the State Meet the last three years and is in charge of the Kid’s Program at Clarks. Counting as his biggest thrill the climb to the top of the awards stand his freshman year Shane is introduced by his former coach and uncle, Norm Manstedt, Hall ‘86.
