Contributors Hall of Fame: Bob Houser

Hall of Fame – 2000

Bob attended high school at Camden County Vocational School – Washington Twp High School in New Jersey from 1959-1963. With no experience in the sport the coach at Washington Township High School asked if he would help with the wrestling team. And thus began his close ties with this great sport. He was the assistant from 1963-1966. Later , due to the poor health of his father-in-law and wanting to get his young family to the midwest, he came to South Sioux City, NE where he started the wrestling program. While there, he also organized a chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Bob has worked with youth programs in New Jersey, Nebraska, and Kansas. He has been a timer and score-keeper at the Nebraska State Tournament for twenty-five years and was recently recognized by the NSAA for his contributions. He also received the 1995 NSWCA Patron of the Year plaque for his tireless volunteerism. He has been the president of the Husker Wrestling Club at UNL for eight years, assists with the National Duals at UNL, helps set up for the NCAA tournament every year, and works with the UNL wrestling team booster club, a.k.a. Husker Wrestling Club. The man never quits!! Bob admits, “Every day that I work with wrestling is a thrill.” He is introduced by his friend, Tim Neumann ( Hall – 1995) of Lincoln.
