Mr. Sporano wrestled for Omaha Technical and compiled a career record of 56-4 and two state meet silver medals. He wrestled AAU competition while in the service and maintained and unblemished record. He wrestled for UNL where he claimed Big 8 runner-up honors during his sophomore and junior seasons and ascended the conference throne as a senior.

Mickey went to Omaha South to coach and found the results stupendous. During the five years there they amassed a total of 130 dual and tournament victories without a loss. That’s five consecutive state crowns. During this span they were rated third in the national prep ranks by Amateur Wrestling News and went toe to toe with #1 ranked Blue Earth, Minnesota in the North High Invitational. Blue Earth returned home without the champions trophy!

Sporano also instituted the South Invitational then accepted a term at UNL before he entered the business world. He is still a resident of Omaha.
