Kearney

Regina has been active with wrestling clubs since 1969, working with the Kearney Wrestling club in 1971. She has been the Great Plains AAU Sec/Treas. since 1973. Gina has helped organize and/or run over 80 wrestlingtournaments in Kearney the last 30 years, not including those at the high school level. These would include USA/AAU District and State, MaineExchange, Midwest Classic, Midway USA with Texas, NSWCA All Star Classic, Jr. World Trials, and AAU Regionals. She has helped as a volunteer with the Nebraska teams at the Jr. Olympics in New Orleans and Disney Duals, keepingscore and timing. Gina has paired wrestlers at all district and State AAU folkstyle and freestyle tournaments since 1973. She has also helped at the USA tournaments in Kearney. She has helped organize/run the various foreign teams that have competed in Nebraska including: Mexico (high school), Germany (Jr. World), Germany (National), Korea ( Jr. World). Regina has traveled with 7 Nebraska exchange teams that have competed in Maine. This would include being a coach, statistician, sponsor, nurse, and mom for over 95 athletes. She accompanied 16 athletes to 4 states on the Southwest Duals in 2000. In the past 32 years she has helped organize and run over 60 clinics in Kearney that have featured many National, Olympic, and World Champions. She has been a gracious host and Nebraska wrestling ambassador to all of them. Regina is a science teacher and cross country coach at Kearney High School and recently received her 25 year coaching plaque from NSAA . She is introduced by her friend Dale Bonge,(Hall ’96), of Albion.
