Hall of Fame – 2013

Scott Charles Jacobsen was born on April 20, 1976 in Wayne, NE to Raymond and Judy (Brader) Jacobsen. He graduated from Winside High School in 1995.

Scott was an avid wrestler during his high school career in Winside. He qualified for state wrestling his freshman year but fell short in getting a medal. His sophomore year, Scott won the state championship for class D at 103 pounds. After his sophomore year, Scott was selected to wrestling in the Junior Olympics for the state of Nebraska. Junior Olympics was located in Knoxville, TN and was a freestyle event for the top wrestlers from each state. Scott finished 4th for his weight class at the Junior Olympics for the state of Nebraska. Scott finished 3rd his Junior year at state and 4th his senior year.

After high school Scott assisted the Winside wrestling program and then got into officiating. Scott initially started officiating little kids wrestling at the Huskerland event in western Nebraska. Scott then ventured into high school wrestling and was a high school wrestling official for approximately 12 years. Scott assisted at the state wrestling tournament for approximately 8 years and was hoping to one day officiate the state tournament.

Scott loved the sport of wrestling and devoted a lot of time and effort in his life to the sport. If there is one thing that you can say that Scott loved with all of his heart, it was wrestling. Whether he was participating or officiating it always brought joy to his life. Thank you all for this nomination! What an amazing honor! Accepting this award is Scott’s brother Jeff Jacobsen.
